The FVC Reformation Plans, rolling out soon.

The FVC has been a long-debated facet of Letsbeef that has gone from hype to falling off to active to inactive and abused at times. I have exams all week (hence why I haven't rolled out the reformation yet) so I will fully introduce this new system over the weekend/early next week. Here is what I propose, all feedback is welcome:

1. L4L
This will be the line for line style of voting. I intend to post a full L4L explanation when I roll out the new system. This will not be applicable to all battles, but will be a set of guidelines that FVC members will abide by when posting up detailed expos. Only certain dedicated members of the FVC will become part of the L4L scheme, I understand that not everyone can post essays every time they are asked.

2. Voting Rubix
As opposed to the L4L scheme, the voting rubix will be a set of detailed pointers to follow when voting on battles without the L4L system. This links me on to the next (and most important) part of the reformation..

3. The Ratings Guidelines
This will be a full marking scheme to be used in every single battle. A criteria for each rating number 1 to 10 will be fully explained in these guidelines, which will be used when voting on every battle that does not include an L4L expo by the FVC member. This means that if the voter does not have time to post an L4L they can refer the battlers back to the Ratings Guidelines thread and they can see why they received the ratings that they did.

There will be more, but these are the main points for now. Any issues or feedback feel free to let me know: this is for you guys' benefit more than anything.

I have a little question with one thing, " No Sway". I can see us getting bitched at for this (not that personally give a flying jesus). Is there exceptions for this or are we expected to do a full breakdown at all times? ( im not complaining by any means, just curious)

Sounds good.. all of it. I'd even go as far as saying don't allow "no sway" votes. If you're swayed by someone else's breakdown.. then you shouldn't be voting in the first place. Also, if you aren't intelligent enough to at least explain who you voted for in a sentence or two.. again, you shouldn't be voting.

What I really think needs to happen: All votes and comments (even those made by mods) should be HIDDEN until you cast a vote. There is absolutely ZERO reason for anyone other than a mod to see others' votes before their own has been given. This would also encourage others to explain their votes... since they can't just look at someone else's vote and say "Yeah, what he/she said. It was close. Fair vote."

Also, as far as "no sway" is concerned.. either make it so you can't COMMENT until you VOTE... or some Text Mods need to start cleaning up all this crew spam repping shit. We know what crew you're in.. we see it by your name. Fifteen of your fucking crew members don't need to clog your battle with them saying "_______ crew is the best WE GOT DIZ SHIT" or whatever the fuck corny catchphrase of the week you've picked up. When lames come to vote and see 500 kids in the comments rooting for their own crew, they'll be inclined to drop a vote for them. Keep that fucking shit in the forums and out of battles.

Your 2nd point. Myself and other staff have been suggesting this for months now *shrugs*

Your final point. Lol trust I'm w/you on that. I personally don't mind the odd 1 but alot of times crews o.d n start spamming they crew. I personally don't get it why people do it.. I probably done it once in a blue moon and even that's too much. But it's not just that. Crew members blatantly sway aswell. I.E Quoting 1 of your crew members lines then saying "bodied" at the end. childish little shit like that. Crew members shouldn't be able to comment on battles.

Phroxen 03-12-2012 06:57 PM

^Exactly.

I'm glad someone else notices this shit too.

Revan 03-12-2012 06:59 PM

We been after those "comments hidden until you vote" ish for too long now. Shits a damn shame really.

& yeah crew "swaying" seems to of gotten worse recently, we clamped down hard for a while, maybe its time to buck them hammas again Corb.

STOP! Hammertime...

This is a solid idea, but it'd be better if there was somehow a lil txt box incorporated for the battlers expo or breakdown under each verse

And FUCK anybody whos posts swaying crew bullshit on their battles.. kids r like gulls on a fry w/ that bullshit...

Krhyme Killz 03-12-2012 07:58 PM

lol...as a mod it prolly aint appropriate to name names n shit..but i will say this...

expoing with long sentences and shit doesnt mean you are a good voter. also..at least to me...if you cant explain ya vote in a way that doesnt inform potential voters of whom you voted for, you arent a good voter.

i try my best to stay away from the 'this was onesided' shit..instead..i'd go with 'both need work..one needs more' or 'despite some good potential...execution was an issue here'

as a mod i look at battles differently...i might look at just the votes and see that only 1 or two people voted for someone out of maybe 7 or 8 votes....then i'll read and see if those votes are merited. i give the benefit of the doubt if you can expo your thoughts...but if you just say 'good shit' or 'one was dope' and you vote statistically incorrect then i have an issue.

we dont all have to vote alike...but there should be an accord met in nearly all battles. the reality is...there are very few battles on here that are debatable...but when that happens...its classic.

while i think the FVC is in good hands.... i still think the concept itself is flawed...and i helped pioneer the FVC. i'm an original member. after becoming seasoned..to me..either you vote well because you are a fair and intelligent voter...or you vote well to get into the FVC. the latter is the cats i have an issue with.

tbh..anyone asking to be in FVC would immediately get denied if i ran it lol...all these FVC applications n shit...corny...let us see how good of a voter you are and we'll put you in the mix

Phracture 03-12-2012 08:12 PM

L4L Gonna Seem Like A Good System For Maybe Up To 16 Lines Anything After May Get a Bit Outrageous .

I totally agree with this...I'm a little weary of what counts as a "good voter" on here and I've never really been a fan of the FVC as an idea. Aside from blatant hate and buddy voting, people are always going to have legitimately different view s of what a good rap verse is. That's why some people prefer Lil Wayne over Nas...its just their preference.

Mikey DeNiro 03-12-2012 10:15 PM

:smh: that all the little bullshit is still going on.
a solution has been given, hide the comments.
now just wait for it to happen and shut up.

as for the battlers expoing there verse.

if you think you have to explain something, then you didn't write it correctly in my eyes.
of coarse there are a few times when people from different backgrounds won't get it. but 8/10 times they will. sooooo yea..

*Therapist told me to let my voice be heard*

"Long sentences and shit" has nothing to do with the quality of your vote.. but the type of vote.. which is a full breakdown. Agreed, not everyone needs a breakdown. However, when someone gets one.. odds are that they need it. Meaning... their verse isn't all it's hyped up to be and their flaws need to be pointed out to them. So instead of "both need work".. a description of why it didn't work would actually help the battler. Otherwise, that person isn't going to elevate and they'll keep writing boring ass stretched concepts and wonder why people aren't feeling it.. since their only feedback was "it needs work".

Two things here:
1.) You can give a full breakdown and not mention who you voted for.
2.) Even if you did mention who you picked, refer to my OP. If you get swayed by others' votes, you shouldn't be voting.

So, you're saying "less is more" in a vote.. but most of the time, I'd disagree... (since most of the time you aren't voting on a veteran battle, but instead, one where both kids need work)

Pretty much, if your verse is polished.. if you're getting 8+ scores from me.. you aren't getting a detailed expo unless you ask for one because you know your shit. If you're steadily getting 6 and below from me, I'll explain as thoroughly as I can because I know my advice can make that person better if they fucking listen.

Also @ the "one sided" thing.. why stray from that? If someone got slaughtered, just tell them they got slaughtered. Sugar coating shit just makes people believe they're better than they are. ... and the number of undeserved egos running rampant on this site is hysterical.

100% agree with this.

Full expos, guidelines and examples will be posted up this weekend for everyone asking.

Astronomical 03-13-2012 08:10 AM

I'm digging this idea. I was an original member of the FVC when Mindless had it running. Alot of people disagreed with the way I voted & still today people catch feelings. Hopefully this will open people's eyes and help them elevate. I also feel that ratings are just as important as the actual vote. People need to know what skill level there at in order to progress. A 'general voting scale' ain't going to work. Hit me up for a detailed vote anytime, regardless if I'm a FVC member. (as long as your not soft ;) ).

BTD 03-13-2012 12:21 PM

its def a good idea cuz some voters dont even read the battles when there voting...you know how when your posting in forums and theres a 10 character minimum required to post??....they should have a 100 chracter or w.e minimum when voting on a battle
