Should we make LB an 18+ website?
 

As I'm sure the rest of you have, as well, I've recently noticed an upswing in the younger demographic. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it denotes the popularity of battle rap with a younger audience.


BUT....


A lot of us post unsavory material for these younger age groups, that we(per the site guidelines) are responsible for individually. E.G. Supsie often posts pornographic content. We all curse heavily, and discuss other rather adult themes unsuitable for children. Obscene violence, derogatory remarks such as slurs, etc etc.

Plus, battle rap events, at large, are 18+ generally for not only these reasons, but, because of their locations(often taking place in bars, or clubs). I think it's important that we, as a site, take similar steps. As to avoid any unnecessary problems by allotting younger users on the site.


Now, I realize that there are parental and explicit warnings on the site already. But, personally, I think we should include an age verification mechanism on the site(having to fill out your birth date, for example.) And before you say it, yes, people will lie about their age. But, despite that, I think we should AT THE VERY LEAST make some attempt at deterrence to exposing these younger age groups to this type of content.


Similarly, these steps help to avoid potential predatory actions. As, there have been people on the site who show some degree of potential predatory behavior, in regard to child abuse(2 Gucci, Rohaan as examples.). These types of people should not be allowed a group of younger children from which to select.

Shiiit, I joined this site age 16 and nothing I came across was really new to me or disturbing. I can't speak on everyone but through personal experience I'd have to say no

You shouldn't be making fun of people for praying on children when you look like your age preference is within the 13 - 16 range.

Whether you're disturbed by it, or not is beside the point here, though. Take Supsie as an example, again. If minors see the pornographic material he posts, he could potentially be in legal trouble over this type of situation. It's as much about protecting the adult userbase as it is the child userbase. @Bape

People of younger age shouldn't be stripped of coming onto our site just because 2Gucci is a proven paedophile.

Yeah, because a child predator would never choose to babysit children. Not like that provides ease of access, or anything. And that most child molesters are people who have access to their victims through familial, or interpersonal connections.

Okay, but, it's not just Supsie. You could similarly be in a situation like this, without even having to post porn. And sure, we're all responsible for what we post. No doubt. But, that doesn't mean that we should facilitate as a site a younger userbase to be exposed to these types of posts. How many people have you called a faggot, etc? Do you think children should OPENLY, without at least some deterrent be exposed to this type of material? Again, people will lie about their age. Children will sign up regardless. But, should the site be making it so easy for them to do so?

Also, if literally anyone else made this post then this would be taken much more seriously at least by me. However, literally EVERYTHING you do is a troll. You don't actually give the slightest fuck if there are kids roaming around this website, you just wanted some sort of excuse to gain my attention since you're just a lonely desperate fuck. I couldn't even take this post seriously even if I wanted to because at this point you're just way too easy to predict and I can tell you EXACTLY what you would say no matter how I responded.

Literally any decent human being with common sense would go and report someone who they truly believe is truly preying on small children.

So far you have not done a single fucking thing except for JOKE about it. So that means only one of two things.

All shit aside, I don't think the site should have to make allowances to protect young people from the behaviour on par with the culture of battle rap. If they want to surround themselves with that kind of material online, it's as easy as ever, no porn websites or anything ask for age confirmation etc. Plus if they're familiar with the culture, they'll know what to expect, and if they do find themselves traumatised, they'll know to steer well clear. In the words of some wise cunts, this is battle rap bitch.
