Every user has 2 points of vote power that they start with. Depending on how a person votes their vote power may be lowered or in very very rare cases raised by one point. All staff members have a vote power of 6. Whoever has the most points at the end of a battle wins. Voting power goes to both sides as text and audio are not separate entities.

As for you you being up by 10 points and then down by 29 points three hours and three votes later I have no idea how or where you got that information but I can tell you that it's wrong. Three staff votes only add up to 12 points so there's no possible way that you were suddenly down 19 more points after three votes. I would like to know however, how you came up with this information.
