So I've decided LB is worth around $2,000. Not a dollar more

Old shitty code means almost nothing monetarilly...especially when half of the site's features are broken and it's much harder for a 3rd party to understand & compile shit based on someone else's code. Even worse if the existing code is rudimentary/sloppy because its the work of an amateur. Your headache becomes 10x worse

NOBLE pointed out how a lot of shit was coded for this specific version of vBulletin...this drives the value down even more. So basically whoever buys this site is literally forced to use this version vBulletin and miss out on all the innovations unless they can hire someone to code equivalent mods, while at the same time pouring money into a new vBulletin license (unless this old license transfers to newer versions)

If we're talking how much is LB worth in 2006/2007 it'd be five figures easily... Shit, paying for Exclusive Membership used to actually be a thing when LB v3 first dropped. Just imagine 50 people paying you $5/month. It's shit money but it's a residual $250/month. The site had 10x more visitors, if they ran ads at the time I imagine they made much more from ads than exclusive membership

Yeah right now, you're not buying any userbase. You're buying a brand, and SEO. There is the potential for existing users to return based on the brand, shown by he short spike of activity in X's return.

But essentially, there is no userbase right now. In 2006/2007, you had an insane userbase of thousands every day.

In fairness, the level of activity is actually a lot better than say...a year ago.

That "better" is 20 members online at peak moments, and its only been for the last couple weeks. Its dope, though that boost is nothing when you realize the retention rate letsbeef has always had.
You could sign times square up to letsbeef and it would change nothing, activity is not the problem. These owners have ran letsbeef into the ground to the point even a guy who scripts for google came in, realized the undertaking this would be, said "fuck this shit im just making a new site all together" and still can't even give us a cogent update on that. or a rough eta. or a general roadmap. or /anything/. Its v4 with a new name, and its never going to happen.

if a single fuckin human here still has faith in this website coming back to the surface they are prize winningly naive. This is a lil cult forum and that's what it will always be until it dies out completely. The owners have given it no room to be anything other than that.

EDIT: aight I was wrong we got a rough eta, man I sure do feel better!! /s

TBH, if I had more mobile experience I would consider making a new site that is very mobile-focused. To build a site this large would be a pretty long undertaking though, I'm a pretty average dev and building a site of this magnitude would take me a long time.

I agree that we haven't been good at retaining the members that continue to sign up daily. What do you think we can do to keep more people here that doesn't involve coding?

Genghis 12-21-2017 03:55 PM

Didn't read the whole thread so this might be repetitive up to this point but I'ma just say this site is definitely not worth that much, you're just as well off starting a site from scratch and marketing it from there. Code is not that hard or you can outsource it to someone who could make an LB quality website for a few hundred bucks.

It would be more focused on audio.
