Chill man, it's the purpose of this website. If you're hip hop, you can rap about ANYTHING it don't have to be about killing, drugs, fuckin', rape, guns. u no? Luda, Eminem etc.. they rap about random shit, they hip hop.. none mainstream do the same. IMO definition of battle rap is ''taking the piss out of somebody, and making it rhyme''.... as for tracks and cyphers and shit.... rap about shit you ain't done and say that you do.. okay fair that's BS but apart from that, STFU and rap, etc

I agree with verity, not all rap is about killing, drugs, and all that shit, eminem and Luda rap about life and shit, Big L and Lord Finesse practically everyone that was around L's time threw punchlines in their verses, Tupac rapped about society, life and occasionally gangsta shit, Biggie was about money and belongings/drugs. Shieet Canibus raps about Alexandria's Library, the Periodic Table, Astronomy, all knowledge. Many famous underground artist (Rakim etc.) rap about random shit. Just use what you know and carve it into verses.

Since when have I ever said you HAVE to rap about Drugs, Killing, or Prison? Everyone on your list has been through some rough shit in their life.

Punchlines and metaphor songs are ok...But if they make a song about hard times, and speak about things they have been through...but really haven't, unless they're telling a story for someone else, i just can't be a fan of them if you want to be a fan, that's fine...
