As far as what to do to help the audio side...I think in order to have a proper perspective on that, we'd have to correctly identify exactly why it's in the shape that it's now in. 1) Audio members (from what I've seen) don't vote on battles at the same rate that they drop them. The lack of voting is probably the BIGGEST issue the audio side faces. There are many times when you look on the audio battle hotlist and its not even filled to the point where OSKAR even had to bribe people with emcee items at one time just to get them to vote and fill the hotlist. 2) The modding of the audio side has been less than ideal. I've always felt like text mods put in way more work toward running tournies and generating new activity than audio mods. And since we've done away with specifying text and audio mods, I feel like the audio section is even less looked after. And this ain't a crack at anyone but I can remember when Schematix was practically the only audio mod doing anything...then he'd go inactive and OSKAR would do some stuff. It just always seem like we could never get the majority of audio mods FULLY active all at the same time. Moreover, when considering new mods for the audio side, the pool has always been way more limited and less appealing whereas with text, quite a number of worthy candidates always spring to mind...and this brings me to my next point... 3) Audio members on the site in general are way less active in the forums. Most audio members don't really check out the forums like text members. They just log on to battle and that's it. the problem with that is it's in the forums where a lot of activity are generated. Honestly, if anyone thinks...how many non-mod initiated forum tournies have we had on the audio side? On the text side, I can think of Dysfunctional's ULC tournies, Row's Jokes over Bars, the compliment tourney that IV or whoever ran at one point...the list goes on. These type of things generate activity and excitement, but how often do you see a regular audio member post an idea like that in the audio lounge and get people to sign up? If they did, the audio side would be in better shape. I'll now write what I think could be a solution to these 3 problems... 1) I think it will take something radical to help the voting trend on the audio side. The audio FVC won't work. I've ran the audio FVC and if you throw a sign up, you might only get 2 worthy candidates sign up whereas the text side might see 10, and the two people who sign up will barely even get any requests from somebody other than Bnas....why? BECAUSE AUDIO MEMBERS DON'T CHECK THE FORUMS! You'll need something like a "Vote Train." This would be similar to the "Guild of Votes" idea that @Dissizit had a while ago. Basically, people step into queue and say they need votes. they are then given 5 links to vote on (these links are the battles of other people who had previously stepped into queue) and they will also receive 5 votes from people who step into queue after them on the link that they posted as needing votes. This is different from the FVC because it is GUARANTEED votes and its also coming from other regular members as opposed to a specially designated group. It will increase the voting on the audio side...trust me. But my next point is... 2) You'll need somebody to mod such a system as the "Vote train." The staff should be encouraged to become more active on the audio side...this includes listening to and voting on whack ass shitty audio battles every once in a while (I know, its torture). It also includes doing what I said i don't see regular audio members doing too often...starting unique forum tournaments and activities for the audio guys that are different from the regular audio tourney schedule. If none of them want to run such a system as the "Vote Train", then we should find someone who is very active and willing to because it'll take a lot of work. You might even need two mods tbh. Running it might involve making a secret forum that only staff can see to use as a bulletin board because if the links they get are only from battles of other people in queue, you wouldn't want to create a situation where people are trading votes so they shouldn't know who else is in queue. Only the mod running it should know who's involved and in what order. 3) Whenever forum tournies and activities are set up for audio members, they should be announced via notices or server announcements from the chat bar. If it's always in the forums, a lot of them won't see it. As more activities like this are set up, the staff should also be encouraged to engage audio members so that they check out the forums and find out what's going on. I'm pretty sure if we do this diligently, more of them will start checking out the forums which will lead to greater activity on the audio side. Eventually, that "Vote train" might be automated through some coding where people just submit a link as if they're applying for an award and they receive an automatic PM with 5 links to vote on. But for now, we can get someone to moderate it and when people start getting involved, I'm sure it will take off and increase voting on audio battles. Kudos to you @RULE for even asking the question and fielding opinions from the public. Good luck on bringing the audio side to life. 2 cents. |

@Crysis Check with the Audio Tournament Schedule and plan your forum tourneys for the months with "N/A" so that it doesn't conflict with any official tournies that the staff is running. We need more audio members getting involved and taking initiative on things like this. After you put up the sign-up thread, you would also have to PM or profile comment other audio members to let them know where to sign up. And I'm sure you can always get a mod or two to sponsor it with emcee items or a title as well. Props on your voting thread and willingness to help out! Keep doing what you're doing.

@NOBLE Thanks for that link, that helps quite a bit. I also wasn't aware you could get mods to sponsor them either that's really dope.

Audio recording for phone, I'm sure that would require coding, but I feel like it wouldn't be hard. It would just make the recorder compatible on the phone.

I feel like there's just not enough audio heads to get shit poppin.. With texting there's so many new members constantly posting opens whereas in audio you see tha same heads battling week in and week out. Not sure how to encourage more dudes to drop audio battles but I'll be fuckin wit audio alot more aha
More Tournaments would be cool & def encourage more audio actvity.. The Lack Of Votes is the real problem with audio, IMO. Tbh id rather vote on an audio battle than a text, even tho some audio battles are horrendous. Is there anyway to manually put battles in the hotlist? i feel like if you put some of the top battles of the week that are low on votes in there, it would def raise the voting... I got like 3 battles that have been needed to close for minute now, shit sucks waitin for it to close. |

Do something like a double point Saturday. Everybody likes being top 10 for the month (even if they won't admit it). So on Saturdays if you battle that battle will be worth double points. I stay having 40+ credits if I know its a double point day ima be at zero in a hour. Not sure why though cuz I don't give a fuck about emcee items...speaking of emcee items we never got our shit from November...text side got theirs though, huh..thats that bullshit. I also agree wit the reset the credits idea. I say reset them after a week. If credits expire after a week then people will have to vote more, and then use them up before they expire. Just a couple ideas ...and definitely, the phone app thing. I can't listen to battles from my phone..not sure if that's my phone or what. Either way everybody stays talking about being able to record from the celly |
