if you look at 2013 notice there is a 0 and a 1 in the middle. Now ignore the 2 and the 3 at the start and end of the number.

0 and 1 are used in Binary 0 meaning negative 1 meaning positive

now the 0 in this number comes before the number 1 so...

7/5/2013. we will pair the 0 with 7 and the 1 with the 5

since 0 means negative we will take 1 away from 7 making 6 and sense 1 means positive we will add 1 to the number 5, making 6

Lastly we will add all the numbers in the year 2+0+1+3 equals 6
