To even have a chance of pulling this off most of you would have to battle on every live league you can and do well to help create a fanbase. Coupled with a relentless internet promotion on all social media outlets etc etc.
Someone like Huey Jazz could probably make it because he has so much in place already, Real Talk too. Look at Illimit tho, dudes got something like a 10-2 live record and has been gigging for years but he still failed to draw more than 40 people for his last show. He has no (that im aware of) music for sale and the battles themselves cant be earning him any more than $100 each max. Theres probably only one person in this whole thread who has even a shot. |
I think if you're good, you could promote the fuck out of yourself on the net for very little cost and make money on the deal.
Looking on the net for 5 minutes, You can get on Pandora for $6.50 for a barcode needed for submission of the app Catapult will distribute your shit for $25 an album to iTunes, AmazonMP3, Rhapsody, eMusic, Rdio NEW!, Spotify, Google Play NEW! (Formerly Android Marketplace), iHeartRadio NEW! (Clear Channel), Napster (Merged with Rhapsody), Zune, MTV - URGE (Merged with Rhapsody), Best Buy (Merged with Rhapsody), Puretracks, Medianet:, eBay Digital Music Center, iLike, Tesco, Synacor, iMesh, MOG, J. River, Pasito Tunes (La Curacao) If you're serious and can code a little or can learn, you can get a full fledged site with perl scripts and shopping cart for $120 a year. Most audio programs/mixers/beats can be found for free (one way or another) to come up with a decent enough sound to make mp3's from. On top of that, you whore your music any way possible through link submissions to get your shit to come up in searches. Lot of dirty work that may seem like a waste, but it'll get you seen if done right. Digital media makes it so much easier to get noticed. Word of mouth will spread your stuff if they like you enough. Fuck, if I had a little extra cash and the time, I've thought about jumping into the whole promo shit for some here and see what came of it. The difference between the famous and nobody has more to do with just getting recognized and less with talent. I listen to half the shit out not and know half of you motherfuckers could write up better stuff. |
lol you guys are corny as fuck
"yo id hustle really hard and promote the hell outta myself!" haha those people are annoying as fuck YO LISTEN TO MY TRACKS. NEW TRACK OUT!! DOIN A SHOW TONIGHT COME OUT!! pff..the only people who are going to hit you up when you promote yourself super heavy like that, are other desperate motherfuckers looking for a dollar and a pat on the back.. if you gotta say you are, you aren't. just make good music.. and none of you could make a fuckin penny off the music you make (from what i've heard). just bein honest. not even sayin i could or anything like that either where the fuckin musicians at, stop playin urselves ---------- Post added at 01:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ---------- lol that shit was pretty harsh... believe in yourselves... but ur still some lames for all that "i've never made a sent off music or put out a single album thats had any recognition or doin one poppin show, but i could make thousands of dollars off music in one year". we don't believe you |
Yo, I made $2 reciting my topicals.
I'm rich as fuck. |
and @ Revan/Rule idunno about thousands man. if i just sluted myself and did w/e suits wanted me to do i probably could. that shit just eats at me though, i want no part of it. im just gunna make my music and put it out reasonably, if people like it, i'll make money. if not, i'll do something else with my life. probably always make music though
