You guys saying LB is dead, yeah this current incarnation of it is. Let's face it, shit's been dead forever and considering the only thing keeping the active guys on was having a coloured name, it says everything it needed to.

X isn't going to update you or improve the site because this version is now entirely dead. Will we actually get v4? Remains to be seen, but after 12 years v3 has now run it's course.

What you guys are basically doing is like hitting up Windows and asking them to make an update for XP.

I have the admit Letsbeef must of had a bigger budget for AdSence / Traffic because I could type Rhyme reaper or Letsbeef with limited keyboards and it would be found all over google. Now I can not find anything unless you fully write in letsbeef.com. That's usually down to less or no trafficing or lower SEO ranking

Edit: Letsbeef has an awesome battle system and got it all it needs a advertising well..

Its funny how everyone is more motivated to argue about the death of the site and who's at fault, instead of coming together and creating an album to push out to the public. The site is dead because there really isnt anyone promoting anything. We need to use multiple platforms to bring more traffic to the site, but this only works if everyone is being consistent. Shit, even with battles. Post that shit on other platforms, attach links to them and bring them to the site. Consistency is the answer to the problem here.

@ILLoKWENT I agree to an extent. There’s hella people who don’t use LB that enjoy battling online. So even if our old heads leave out, we’d expect new heads to come in. Think of the nba. Legends and vets get old and tired of the game so they retire, but every single year there’s a ton of new guys that come in replacing those retired.

All I'm saying is I joined about 4-6 weeks ago, through google. So it's not DEAD. What is DEAD is some people's ability and common sense to understand how shit changes, and the context of online platforms changes and needs to be contemporary. I am a user on a few discord servers which are purely just for rap battles, etc, and that is where the main shift has gone.

But like someone mentioned, pushing out and advocating the site to other platforms, even making other platforms such as discord, twitter, etc - Would increase exposure. No point sitting back beggin for votes and points, moaning and saying RIP, when clearly motherfuckers moaning are still here posting.

Simple solution: Owner of the site may have commitments and equally a life to lead, but for the site and the content, and the system it has, which is sick (fuck asking about updates; it's sick even on an old version) he/she does need to engage with the community and make their intentions clear.

Even if it means they need help on the back end of the website, and programming or web development, security bla bla - Just say, that shit is easily solved, and i'd happily engage. But like anything in life, something is only as good as the person it is led by, and their commitment. Sentimental or not, the owner needs to recognise the loyalty to the site from what i can see, and needs to step back if they are unable to implement solutions.

And the community is asking for clarity, and it's time to take heads out of the sand.

I'm here, I've made my intentions clear in a number of threads in the announcements forum about the new version of the site.

I'm working on the new version with limited time & resources. If there are folks that are experienced with React & Node.js & MySQL and want to contribute, DM me.

What I hear in this thread is a desire for more community involvement, and with my limited time and the removal of the moderator staff the community driven activities have gone down. However, you don't need a moderator title to drive an event here and folks like @Rai have been stepping up and doing this, I'm happy to help set up tournaments based off forums etc.

I want to hear ideas from the community how we can have a fair moderation system for battles, that is more community-driven, than driven by individuals.

I hear you and it's deplorable for some of the toxic comments being thrown around; but re: SQL and database I can help/advise on no problem. I'll read the announcements more thoroughly, and truesay roles and little badges are not needed, especially when traffic is of a level where moderation is really not required.

what's required is for the obvious issues to not be regurgitated like a dog eating grass, and legit just provide solutions and support wherever. Anyway, i'll DM for the SQL query and fair play for the response.

LB didn't die because "people got bored". Yeah the current guys did but LB wasn't build on existing members. The site just got outdated, lost it's SEO and didn't keep up with trends so it disappeared.

We were heavily reliant on forums which, as a medium, is dead. That's it. The tech fell behind so it died.

Maybe he'll release the new site and if he does, that'd be cool. But there's no more tournament or scheme which will keep it going anymore.

BizNasty is just doing what gutz did. When you ghost for ages then come back, you don't have the same perspective.

So what if I've been ghost? How does that effect anything about my opinions or views on the landscape? Pretty sure like a month ago I was part of the biggest storyline in years on LB and brought an audio battle to 20 votes.

It doesn't include everyone. Our part is done. This version of LB is dead with or without us. If X is planning on actually promoting the new site, his new incarnation will be what it will be with or without us.

I know you guys love to think we're of some massive importance to all this but it's bollocks. The site is in the exact same spot whether we're logging on or not.

But alas, I dunno why I'm bothering to argue. A guy coming back from 49 years of inactivity only to call everyone out for being pissed off or inactive is hardly an original stance. The community matters at the end of the day. If people come to the new site and it's just a bunch of clowns rapping no one's gonna stick around besides clowns who enjoy clown activity. The real writers and people are who makes a platform like this enjoyable for everyone.

You're thinking of back in 2010 or so and back then that was what was dope for the time. There were still members with integrity and legit skill then. Once they're all gone it's a castle made of sand. You need good people to have a good community and thus a good site. People fuck with SMACK and want to be on there because of all the talent there and the way it's ran professionally and treated with the proper respect. Same with any other successful battle rap league / promotion. The bums hang around bums and stay in bum leagues that are ran by bums until they step it up and want / do better. I'm not sure if you were ever around LB back when it was good but there were two entire sections. You had the forum guys. Those were the guys who could write punches and actually battle. Then you had everyone else. A wasteland of cheating and nonsense. The latter was easily more fun. The excitement of having a battle coming to close was so much more intense. Shit was so much more fub when you just wrote shit. I'm someone that breaks shit down to really technical levels but at the same time I don't wanna spend 3 weeks on a verse, and no one wins titles with half an hours work.

Be it trying to connect the large Facebook group, spamming Youtube instrumentals, spamming other websites...you name it we've tried it. You forget man, this shit essentially went un-updated (or very minimally) for about 12 years. After those first few when we all noticed shit started to drop, we all did exactly what you're calling for. We promoted the site, we ran tournaments, leagues, events. We made development crews. We made our own Hall of Fame.

This shit is like a fucking minecraft server. We had a building block of a world and we fucking made one. We built this shit to have legends and histories. From MJ to Edgeworth, this shit was all us.

Lack of owner support. You put in a lot of work and then the second you needed help from staff or the owners, you realized you were in it alone.

I've posted tonnes and tonnes of ideas that would have worked back in the day. But alas, it's too late for all of it. New members need interaction but everyones too busy focusing on high level battles and tournaments. Everyone was too busy making their vet crews and trying to get titles that when the "wasteland" side of LB died out, all that was left were guys that were too good for the newbies to battle or interact with.
