lol Horrorcore takes me to that special place, I like the vicious shit, not that soft shit. Thats prolly just me tho, tbh, that hard in the paint shit, I didnt like it lol, nor am I a fan of every BANG BANG song that comes out, or slang that crack rap. I was jus tryna explain that rap is about so much, so u can think outside the ordinary box and rap about whatever your mind allows. And your battle, it was boring to me, I thought the Jason Bourne line was alrite, but it just didnt make me wanna keep reading, hence the entertainment factor. The flow n multies was good, it just didn't appeal to me, maybe the next man thinks different. I can tell your an intelligent person, and maybe your overdoing it in the box. Like... It seems like somethin the guys from the Big Bang Theory might chuckle at it. If your smart, display that, but do it in a way that will wow or entertain a crowd. Like I said tho, jus my opinion, my opinion shouldn't mean that much to you. Thanks for understanding tho.

Everyone on both sides are essentially proving my point.
There are millions of rappers and most concepts have been touched on at least a few times, but gunplay is the one that comes up in EVERY rap battle I see. I think if LB used less gunplay and more complex/original topics then there'd be a lot more hype and excitement around battles because I wouldn't go in to read a battle and be able to predict what's coming. Also, you can justify it as entertainment, but it's the "entertainment" factor that sees people like Flo-Rida and Pitbull - two decisively average emcees - at the forefront. I thought rap was all about being real and emotive, spitting what you know and unleashing your creativity. Gunplay's ok, but there are little or no rappers PERIOD writing fresh concepts about it. It's not the fact that it's played, it's the fact that on LB it's more played than any other concept by a million miles. |
Kinda danced around the point there. I guess what I'm trying to say is most of you are far more intelligent than your verses would reflect, limiting your vocabulary and topical punchlines to guns is just falling into that "Badass Rapper" stencil that rap battling has taught us to adhere to.
As rappers we're taught to act tough, pedal narcotics, shoot people and be "from da hood". Bullshit. I say get creative, get smart; prove you're not just another rapper, talking about guns and clips, unless you can do it in a way that doesn't portray you as a clone of Conceited or Murda Mook. We shouldn't be forced to dumb down verses to fit the Letsbeef mould & ensure the readership understands, and the readership shouldn't be forced to dumb down their intellect in order to make a punchline more exciting. It's stopping Letsbeef progressing as a site IMO. It's a matter of opinion, and that's mine. Don't like it?......... :violent: |

That's why huge summer blockbusters with lots of action and explosions make way more money than indie art house films, you can say one is better because it's more creative, but at the end of the day I'd rather watch 300 than Citizen Kane, or watch an Arsonal battle over a Bender battle, or listen to Wayne over Canibus. |
