Well all rappers are poets, but I just think Lupe uses more literary devices like entendres, metaphors(of course), extended metaphors, etc. Lupe is like a classic poet to me. He is like the poets that wrote the poems that you read in HS and College and you had to decipher them because they are written so you have to think hard about the meaning sort of. His lyrics are like concentrated and they fly over peoples heads. Wayne is a poet, but like a new controversial poet. He still has metaphors, entendres and stuff like that but its not as concentrated as Lupe's. Really anybody can like Wayne because he doesn't try to mind fuck people like Lupe does. I'm not hating on Wayne. Even though I don't voluntarily listen to him I give him his props whenever I hear one of his songs. Lupe has the lyrics, delivery and has rapped about lots of subjects and from different points of view. Lil Wayne has stays on the same subjects most of the time, but his punch lines and metaphors hit you in the face and he creates raps that will sell. I think Lupe is slightly better than Wayne, but they have strengths in different areas. I don't even think "Gangsta Lupe" would be as popular to the mainstream as Lil Wayne. His raps are too concentrated. Btw I don't have that much hate for the mainstream its just that

well every rapper starts off great........i know hes not neccesarily a rookie but hes still young............... he also kinda reminds me of cassidy for some reason like hes there but hes not if that makes sense.........i mean if keeps it up who knows could be one of the greats too cause hes not strickly underground like a joe budden............so hes still got a chance to stick out but if he sticks it out and gets ppl stuck to him like wayne does the props to him i mean ur always doin somethin right if ur around to the public for a couple years

I'm not hating on Wayne either...I give him props dude has put in mad work and made a name for himself(obv lol)...But the question was who's better lyrically? and Lupe is on a different level IMO

I don't think comparing artists ever benefits anyone. On one side, one dude will be stuck to Wayne's dick, and on the other to Lupe's, and trying to get a decent opinion is laughable, because they'll disagree with every point you're trying to make just for the hell of it. I think as long as you're original, you can be happy, however in today's industry the market is very specific, so depending on what you choose to rap about you can either make it big and be appealing to any record label and make your money, (Nothing wrong with that, these "rappers" write anything without a second thought for a buck, that's their thing..) or you can be a real artist and try to be creative enough to elevate yourself and find success some other way. Wayne doesn't appeal to me, based on the fact that none of the shit he raps about means anything to me, or is anything i can relate to in the least. I enjoy listening to Lupe's music a hell of a lot more, because my brain is actually active. If I feel completely out of my zone I'll listen to a lil Wayne track, and then realize I want to cut the lyrics right out and steal the beat..

Lyrically= Lupe. Flow wise= It'll be a tie. but Wayne ain't all dat ney way. for one he'll sang other people songs and try to put his own blend to it. which is not tight at all. Lupe is way above that. his flow is neat, steady, tight, nd you can understand what hes saying. you can't understand what Wayne be saying half of the time. SMH
