50 Cent wrote loads of his own songs, fuck you on about cunt? @IIAM he wrote lots of the games hooks for his first album too. That’s a complete false story there. 50 can write and been doing so, check out all his mixtapes before Dre & Em. Problem is; there will always be an audience for talentless people, the uneducated populations love them. |
I've been saying this for a while. LOGIC IS TRIDASH!!

Logic. I’m not saying he’s a trash tapper because he obviously isn’t but I don’t fuck with his music hardly at all.
NF. He has a couple good songs but for the most part, his music isn’t that relatable to me like it is to others. G Eazy. I don’t duck with him at all MGK. I don’t fuck with him at all. |

I mean it is taste 'n preferences no matter how you phrase it. So Ima be the geezer here lol
I think most of the mainstream artists right now, specifically trap, are overrated. Music relies heavily on trends—shit is changing by the decades—but I'm waiting for soulful/funky type shit to make a comeback. I think the current trap phase will be remembered as a lower point in hip hop history overall (& I could be wrong) but I personally don't really vibe with it. It doesn't feel genuine. And it's lazy lol. Lyrics/themes/etc. aside, I can't even dance to the stuff without feeling just weird. It deadass feels like they're simply selling the trend not making art, like it feels corny at this point. But it's probably just more niche than other eras have been. But imo if music should be judged, it should be on how big of an audience you can touch and how long that touch can last. I personally think Chance (aside from most of his last album) is one of the better and more consistent lyricists, with solid delivery, feel good vibes, and that shelf value with timeless themes that connect with wide varieties of people living all sorts of lifestyles. Even so I thought Mac Miller was hella overrated until Swimming came out—that album was amazing. Kanye hits all those points that's why he's such a central/lasting figure. I am coming around to some trap artists/songs but it's on a real hit or miss basis. If the shit gets my head nodding I obviously like it but that shit actually rarely happens now-a-days aside from new Ye or Pusha releases and random ass cats I find on Spotfiy hahah. I think Logic, MGK, G Eazy, etc. (like Auto said) are all pretty corny too. They kind of just seem like high school rappers that made it which is probably exactly what they are. |

Just saying that album had a shit load of writers, And wasn’t necessarily a 100% 50cent. I said that cause he said something like “You should listen to GRODT and it will change your mind.” I think his mixtapes and work prior to that are more who he is. |
I don't know a lot of the guy's you're all mentioning so I'll go for someone really controversial; Guru.
While Ganstarr made some of the dopest music of all time, it was entirely down to the beats. If you had someone like NaS on those tracks they'd have been infinitely better. Immortal Technique can barely ride a beat in half of his songs. Sometimes it sounds like he wrote the lyrics before hearing the audio. Hopsin made a few absolute bangers. Ill Mind 4 was incredible. He just doesn't make good music in general though. |

---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:06 PM ---------- Chance The Rapper I don't have an opinion on. Lil Pump is OBVIOUSLY overrated if she just compare his views to his actual content. He's fun to listen to tho but still. |
