I'm at 94 at my absolute highest, and I'm the highest I've ever met in person (also undefeated unless I made a huge mistake on typeracer).

Are you guys touch typing as well? I can only type with my index fingers.

I use my 2 index fingers also lol.

I used to use my two index fingers but I switched when I started wanting to get competitive at typeracer. I don't type "properly" but I use most of my fingers. I don't type properly because getting your hands in perfect position just doesn't fit with online games where you have to type something briefly and then grab the mouse again.

I dunno what typing "properly" is. I'm typing in the dark with my laptop on my bed.

But it's absolutely inconceivable for me that someone is typing 50wpm faster than me with their index fingers. I've been in a library and had people stop and watch me when I'm typing because of how fast it is (pretty embarrassing moment lmao). I had a "microsoft expert" tell me that I shouldnt waste my time learning to touch type because I already type faster than her.

When I think of the "proper" way of typing, I think of the way I was taught to type in school, which is to use all your fingers with your index fingers on the home keys, and of course being told which fingers are supposed to hit which keys.

That's touch typing. I never learned how to type in school, I just pretty much learned through Bebo and Letsbeef.

I learned how to type in school, I got faster when I became a regular internet user, I got fast with my hands from online games (not like that... well, I guess somewhat) and I got really fast from typeracer.

I didn't know that's what touch typing meant, I though touch typing is just not having to look at the keyboard because you know where all the keys are placed.
