It ain't Kendrick's fault. It's everyone else's fault for making such a huge deal about nothing and not knowing what constitutes real beef. Almost EVERY rapper says "I'm the best" on damn near every song. He just mentioned his friends' names along with it. So what? When he said "I'm the king of New York" he was actually quoting Kurupt from way back during the East Coast/West Coast beef if you look at the lines around it. This shit just shows me how dumb and unobservant a lot of the younger Hip Hop fans are.
