@Verity I'm not really a fan of wordplay either...to me sitting in front of a screen thinking about what two words or phrases sound the same is kinda corny but i have seen some pretty dope punches come from them but the majority aren't...im not knocking anybody that does it bc everybody has their own style..

n bout the vet thing...yeah there's definitely fear on LB n plus most of these ppl built up such a strong rep that sometimes we naturally think their verse is better than it really is...but then when u look back at it u see alot of excessive self boasting, n no-punch-at-the-end rambling...but still they pack enough dope punches in there towards the end to get the job done lol

^I've to disagree, i think wordplay when done correctly of course, makes for a bigger, stronger punch in the Text arena. As the text box has to have a lot of creative, strong factors every where in it, were as in Audio a nice crisp flow see you the win with a few punches that if they were in text would get the meh vibe from every text cat....

Wordplay also shows that creative side, but a lot a LOT of ppl really dont know what wordplay is, they think they do, but they dont... just cos you put two words together (exp) 'Bearin'/Bear-in' together doesn't make it wordplay, its the connection between either side of the / in the line that makes it wordplay (exp) "Holding a Teddy" only time you Bearin'/Bear-in Arms... the most problem with wordplay is ppl are using it wrong and others think what they are seeing/reading is correct wordplay/dope wordplay when in fact its wack & forced to fuck.....

Think a Battle Writing thread should be made up, might do it later this evening, touch on all area's of battling.... as a lot of ppl are trying but still cant seem to get to grips with some parts...

Def. a co-sign here. i think it's dated acceptability in my opinion. Since wordplay is so heavy on the site now as opposed to DeNiro's prime I think that he did what always worked for him. The standards for wordplay to the voters is now more stringent than it was then. Had this battle taken place back then, it might have been different. Yeah, a LOT of people suck at wordplay but the fundamental understanding of how it works is more common knowledge now than it was back then. In fact, it was more impressive back then to have even partially relevant wordplay because it was a more edgy concept to readers back then. I think a lotta these "vets" that get dug back up would run into the same damn problem. Except possibly Mahv or Chizzy who had spot on wordplay back then, and have even seen and inquired about new wordplays now(NawkOut).

My wordplay is usually much hotter i admit, but after reading Bobbys verse i noticed that altho his wordplay was a bit iffy the swag was fuckin insane so i dropped some myself.

but for real Lizman you got absoloutely NO right to comment on anyones wordplay for reeeeal.
