It's all tastes and preferences. There shouldn't be some set formula for judging battle verses, let alone setting them up, that's why there's multiple judges, multiple opinions. I do think some battlers could be a little more open minded though. A good few of people probably learn rapping a fair amount here, so they're easily influenced.
Think context of a real battle. Ali was usually not praised for his haymakers. He had speed (a barrage of weaker but hard punches) and endurance. He had tactics and creativity. Different elements matter to different people—the vast majority being punches which is understandable, but it may tilt your scales a little bit too far.

I noticed this after doing a few Facebook battles, and my style has definitely changed because of it. There are some dudes out there who are great at back-to-back haymakers, so I started trying that instead of sticking with one concept like I used to. Here's the first battle where I tried that style, especially in the last couple schemes. Tbh I think this way is more effective than sticking to one concept, especially since everyone (myself included) reaches a lot for wordplay and hurts the flow or makes it sound forced.

This is what I'm saying. TBH I write more like this and when I get on LB I get voted down sometimes because it doesn't fit into this one format that everybody thinks is the only way to write. To me if you can make me laugh while reading idgaf what style you used.
