Can you imagine what invading them would do? Completely unite them politically. 80 million people united in a common hate for an invader that is made up of division.
Scary stuff all started because someone was dropping in the polls. We should all pray for Bernie Sanders to win because this guy being in charge of a super power is getting crazier by the day.
If the US couldn't successfully invade Vietnam, Korea, Iraq or Afghanistan what happens when they invade the country with the 13th most powerful military in the world?

I'm American. I also don't find it especially humorous. But, humor was a way to open this up for discussion.

It's not funny but we make light of morbid situations for various reasons. To cope, to process, to escape from the morbid reality of the situation. You never heard of dark humor. It has value.

Nah, if that dark situation is a possibility and people can lose their lives over it, its not funny to me... The memes would be funny if we were blowing things out of proportion but last night, war with Iran was a very real possibility. After this Trump address though, seems like no war with Iran.

Consider the possibility that our governments colluded so Iran could save face. No deaths after the missile attack on the embassy? Weird shit is afoot and our governments can not be trusted to be truthful with their citizens. The weirdest part of yesterday's events to me was the plane crash. That shit got shot down.

They definitely colluded with Iran. From what I understand we emptied those bases out and knew of Iran's plans to strike it.
Seems like we worked out a deal where Iran could get their 'revenge' and save face without any U.S. casualties.
Trump did meet with Saudi Arabia yesterday morning, and it went unreported. We only found out because Trump tweeted about it.. That's another thing I found weird.

I hope not. I'm under the impression that the U.S. is untouchable unless we allow ourselves to get touched. They could continue fucking us up overseas, but if there's an attack on our homeland it'll raise eyebrows.
I mean don't get me wrong terrorist cells live in a bunch of major cities and can plot silly shit like shootings, stabbings, truck attacks, homemade bombs etc...but I just can't see another 9/11 type of event happening
Because then Trump can pull the "I tried to de-escalate, but after today's attacks they left me no choice". Easy way to rally his supporters, distract from impeachment, and he'll probably get re-elected too because at that point everyone would want war

Issue is that Iraq’s government has asked for us to be gone. We had a general hand deliver a letter agreeing to comply only to have the Joint Chiefs of Staff go back on it hours later. If we are staying inside a sovereign nation beyond their wishes, it’s not going to play well. Not with his re-election, not with NATO who he asked to get involved with his speech, and tbh I can’t see it playing well with the surrounding nations where we have bases who would probably wonder if we’d refuse to leave their country if asked.
