I get where you’re coming from but I’m against the idea of grouping everything into a global category. It’s black music in the same sense the Boondocks is a black show. Of course everyone enjoys it and white people help make it but... cmon lol. We’re so eager nowadays to not put anything in a category because it doesn’t sound nice. It’s always “you guys this is for everyone, love peace and sharing, go team” but I can’t do that with everything. Can’t black people own anything without having to share credit? I think Eminem is the GOAT personally BUT... hip hop is black music to me. Sorry

Cause it is. Idk what you or most people in this thread are but it comes from black culture. Idc how many American animation studios create good anime... it’s still a JAPANESE art style. I’m all for freedom against race labels but this is where the line is.

I know that might not be YOU saying that as I realize you’re more so quoting Jamar, but just in case anyone else even implies it isn’t, I just want to make that clear now @ NOBLE
|
But anime is created by people all over the world. Its origins are Japanese, but its no longer PURELY a Japanese art style. Its like if a black dude was to make french food, and him only being a "guest in french cuisine". Makes no fucking sense

Lol but you’re still calling it FRENCH food. Not “Global food”. It’s FRENCH food created PRIMARILY by the FRENCH (Which is why it’s French food). Everyone can enjoy. I am in no way calling anyone a guest. Fuck Lord Jamar (like I said if you read the whole forum). All I’m saying @ Phil Banks is that when it comes time credit should be given where it’s due. Hell yeah everybody can watch BET... but it’s literally a black channel. Do you feel me in the slightest? lol bruh I’m not trying to sound all black panther “fuck the white man” right now.

I can't stand Eminem's music. But I don't think he's a guest in anything. Hip Hop in my opinion is urban culture not Black culture. Lord Jamar is racist. He's also wack as fuck and I haven't heard a verse of his I've liked ever. His beats are dope. I don't think we could call Rick Rubin or even the Beastie Boys guests. Shit even Vanilla Ice in his own way advanced the culture and opened doors. By coining it as Black owned or something it's exluding others and that's exactly what Hip Hop was never about for me.
LJ started all this shit to put Em in an almost unwinnable position I don't agree with him at all though. Honestly the guy is cringe city as is Eminem IMO two old cornballs I couldn't careless about. This arguement has rubbed me wrong since he presented it a year or so ago though.

Who covers as many categories as him? He tells his life through his music in a way that's only rivalled by Nas. He has the lyricism of Big L or Big Pun. He has the emotional input only rivalled by 2pac. He has the body of work to rival anyone. No rapper has been able to cross genres like Eminem.
It's all rolled in to add to the word "great".

Yeah I find his shit try hard and cringey. His songs with Royce are cool but I prefer Royce's writing IMO he's the best rapper right now. Every artist you name I rate higher than Em. It's personal preference and I have never been an Eminem fan. I never dyed my hair or hated my mom I just could never relate. I also thought MGK destroyed him in Rap Devil. And it wasn't even close.
I remember that cringe episode where he tried to pistol whip ICP with an empty gun or some goofball shit. Just never could take dude serious.

"MGK destroyed him with rap devil"
He never crosses two syllable rhymes in the whole song
1 double entendre
Very basic vocab
If this was a battle on letsbeef Em ate MGK alive with 1 bar...

I'm sure a quick delve into my post history will show you I don't agree with alot of LB voters. If I had to vote on that battle it would be something like "Personals were really what decided this... one verse was written with a specific target the other song could have been for anyone the aggression was there vocally but I didn't feel it in the bars"
He went in on Em who cares about the scheme? I couldnt name another MGK song but Rap Devil is dope. The intangibles were there I felt the verse thats enough for me.
