Default Talib Kweli - Upper Echelon

Man...If this is the direction NY rap is taking I embrace it with open arms. Idk if ya'll know who Charlamagne The God is, but he was saying NY needed a distinct sound because everybody from NY is hopping on Southern beats and shit... Talib Kweli, as much as I'm against him hopping on mainstream joints, did some justice on this beat. His lyrics were pretty damn solid on this joint

And he dropped some 5 percenter knowledge for niggas like @Erupt. It could prove useful for your next Bible study

Talib Kweli has a very unique style... It's not one of those

1, 2, 1,2, 1,2,3,4/
1,2 1,2 1,2,3,4/

Its not the traditional format is what im tryna say...you ever hear Freeway? Freeway has a pretty different style. I personally think his style is booty though. Freeway will drop a bar, and two bars later drop the rhyme that goes with the 1st bar.

Talib Kweli had to grow on me the same way AZ had to grow on me. Funny how I disliked these rappers at first and prefered Mos Def & Nas, and now that time has passed I like both of them

I'm at a stage in my life where I think the message is more important than their rhyming ability. Of course you don't wanna hear someone with a good message if they're straight ass...

But I think at one point we were all fascinated by Eminem's multi syllabics and internals and etc etc etc...to the point that if other rappers lacked them we thought they were wack

But now its more about the message. When you get the best of both its unusual, which is probably why I fuck with AZ heavy.

Try not to have your biases towards Talib Kweli and just listen to the lyrics

Braniac dumb dumb, bust the scientifical
You feel it all, up in ya soul we gettin spiritual
You heard I'm coming back, this is scary I put the fear in you
I murder every track, cuz ???
Real shit back, its a miracle
Rap been laughable over the last year or two
Reflectin like a mirror do, who is the real living proof?
I'm back with that classical ?? I pack lyrical
Substance like bowls of ?weed? into a vaporizer
And then I vaporize ya, my paper may surprise ya
No need to brag on my paper cuz I'm a naturalizer
I vibrate higher, the truth break liars.
