Writing any set of bars is not "off the top".. Also, a cypher isn't "off the top"... You're, like so many others for some reason, mixing up a few different things into one.

Freestyling: Coming 100% Off the top, or
spitting a written piece that is a cypher/free forming type set of bars that can suit any beat that haven't been used before/not part of a song/battle etc.

Cypher: Spitting a written with no overall/main concept or focus, just writing the best bars you can for the sake of it.


A Cypher isn't off the top... Unless you mean a couple of dudes freestyling on the corner, with each one jumping in at different time, thus making it seem like its a cypher.

Anyway... All tournaments are 3 days to write. People have lives, jobs etc outside of LB. No one is spending 3 entire days to write....
