Wordplay/Metaphors in Text Battles...

People put associated words in quotation marks at different ends of their bars, but the way the words are used doesn't actually convey or help the main concept they are trying to get across. It's almost like they think just having them there with quotation marks to highlight the fact that the words are associated is enough to score points for "complexity." I'm sick of this shit!

Another thing is people make wordplay that are forced as hell and one part of it don't even have anything to do with the bar. If you're going to use doublespeak and use words that have two meanings, BOTH the meanings should be relevant, otherwise there's no point in even highlighting the second meaning.

I agree that Askari's bar was more straightforward and relevant in that battle. I also agree that "loosing light/torch" doesn't have anything to do with Egypt or a mill tearing Ri up. But since you brought it up, I actually voted for X-Cal in that battle. If you want me to explain, I'll do so.

the word "reign" has nothing to do with the torch or anything .. only "light / torch" has any relevance .. and even that its a horrible attempt at a concept

"reign has lost its light" can never actually work in quotations cus theres no such thing as rain/reign "losing light" .. it just wont ever work

'Reign' had to do with the situation in Egypt, and I think the overall point he was trying to make was to compare Askari's LetsBeef reign and his confrontation with X-Cal to the situation with the military in Egypt. I think he had some wording issues in trying to convey that point. "Up and out of power" was nowhere near being the smoothest wording he could have used. "Loosing light/torch" was veering away from/irrelevant to the central idea, but it still sort of worked if we take "loosing light" as a metaphor for losing power.

It's not wordplay, more a turn of phrase.. I tend not to do wordplay it's been done to death. But if you're going to use quotations it has to be for a strong and clear connection as a minor nudge in the direction of the idea.


Not for people to try and connect a thousand little accidental/coincidental connections (at best) to the final punch like it's some super complex shit we need hand holding through, when really it's just nonsense.
