People should have the freedom to do what they want with their own bodies so long as they don't cause harm to others in the process. Drugs will be consumed whether or not the government makes it legal. Making it illegal doesn't work as a deterrent, and it only creates problems in other areas. In certain parts of Canada, they have safe injection sites where people can consume opioids under the supervision of medical staff. They are provided clean needles. It has reduced overdose deaths as well as the transmission of diseases due to sharing of needles. Government recognizes the potential dangers of some drugs which is why they tend to prohibit it, but prohibiting hasn't worked and they should take new approaches like this along with legalization.
