Exclamation UPCOMING TOPICAL BATTLE IN THE FORUMS

Topical battles are returning to LetsBeef!

I'm very excited to announce that a completely different type of battle, the topical, is returning to LetsBeef! This is a format that hasn't really been seen on the site since 2015, but hopefully we can bring it back and add another dimension back into the site's activity. For those of you who don't know what a topical battle is, this thread is for you!

A topical battle is nothing like a normal rap battle. Instead of dissing your opponent, and focussing on punchlines, it's a chance to write about a given topic in the most artistic and creative way possible. Battlers are either given a picture or a prompt, and each one writes a certain number of lines on it. Topical verses are all about clever twists, emotional language, imagery, poetic devices and intricate flows.

We are hopefully running a topical tournament in November, but before we do that we figured we'd run a topical battle in the forums for everyone to see, to show newer guys (including me lol) what it looks like. The battle will be between @2FUEL, a former Topical Tournament Champion, and @Shodan, a very experienced topical battler.

The battle will be held in the forums, and only a certain group of voters will be officially recognised, but I encourage everyone to have a look and drop your thoughts. The tournament will probably be run through the brackets and be open to all voters, so its critical as many people as possible get a good idea of how it works.

Stay tuned!
