The Rookie Of The Year 2018

The Nominations

For the first time since 2013 there was sufficient interest and activity to run a Rookie Of The Year tournament in 2018, and the tournament came back with a vengeance. Since the tournament hadn't been run for so long, moderator Seul was permitted to invite the best rookies from as far back as 2016, and eventually a field of 16 contenders was put together for a bracketed tournament. Contenders were selected based on their battle prowess and on their activity, and the tournament was the largest ROTY event since the 2011.

The Tournament

The competition was again run as an official tournament, with single eliminations over 4 rounds to decide the champion. The full tournament can be found here:

The Rookie Of The Year Tournament 2018

The Result

The tournament included accounts created over several years, with a number of strong contenders. However, 2018 rookie Edgeworth was able to blitz his way through the field (picking up 95% or more of the vote in every battle) to defeat his crew mate in The Fire Nation, Brayne Ded, and become Rookie Of The Year 2018. The tournament was considered a resounding success, and was voted tournament of the year in the 2018 LestsBeef Awards.
