THE 2018 BASIC TEXT

TOURNAMENT
HOSTED BY:

NOBLE

Ladies and gentlefaggots (jk), welcome to the premier annual event at LetsBeef.Com hosted by yours truly, the Noble Sun God.
I had to dust off the old green jacket to host this event, the first one I'm hosting in almost 3 years. The tournament is well underway as we've just completed Round 1. So far, it's been an exciting spectacle and a few people have caught body bags. Rest assured, there are still more to come. As the weaklings and troll verse posters get weeded off, things are only beginning to heat up. I'm giving you this magazine as a way to chronicle and capture the moment for the proverbial LetsBeef posterity, so that future generations may look upon this thread as a time capsule of that shining moment when we crown our 2018 Text Grand Champion. I'll be bringing you interviews, recaps, predictions, and highlights from every round. So without further delay, let's get to it!

<img src="http://i68.tinypic.com/j5k1vk.gif" border="0" alt="Interviews">
I sat down (in the virtual sense) with a few of the combatants to find out what's going through their minds as they strive to attain that most coveted title, and we touched on a few highlights from the previous round. Read along as I interview Fidel Z, Jimmy Hoffa, and Row.
<img src="https://www.letsbeef.com/forums/image.php?u=880334&dateline=1515908081" alt="NOBLE" width="32" height="32"> I'm putting together a magazine for the GC To try to chronicle the event. You guys mind doing a mini interview?
<img src="https://www.letsbeef.com/forums/image.php?u=895297&dateline=1514644957" alt="Fidel Z" width="56" height="32">yeah let's do it

I think the best way to deter them is to keep tabs on how everyone's coming along with their verses, make sure the two opponents are on the same page before battling (a confirmation, more or less) and just make sure to keep the trolling for the forums, not for the battles.

The Round 1 BATTLE OF THE ROUND award goes to...

Nicholas vs. EZ Boi

Make sure you read over that if you haven't had the chance. You might learn a thing or two

<img src="http://i65.tinypic.com/54suus.gif" border="0" alt="Predictions">
I asked Jimmy Hoffa if he'd be willing to provide some insight and predictions for Round 2. Here's what he had to say.

Quote:
Originally Posted by Jimmy Hoffa

I've seen a lot more of what he's done recently compared to Louie Dawgs and his styles matches up very well in comparison to what I've seen from Louie in the past. Bape is more centered around throwing punches and Louie likes his verse to flow more and has the longer-winded punches with longer setups. I'm not saying that Louie won't take it, I'm just saying I would put my money on Bape.

Jimmy Hoffa vs OH MY GOD: Good luck, fam.

Lil alzie vs Xwizit: I would have to give this one to Xwizit by a favorable margin. alzie is a battler with a good amount of potential and he's done a good job elevating under Row's tutelage, but I think that Xwizit is starting to really hit his stride as of late and he's a true dark-horse for a GC title. Will be a good match nonetheless.

Rai vs Row: This is tied for my Battle of the Round pick along with Shodan vs EZ Boi (more on that later), but I would have to predict that Row wins this one here. Rai is extremely close to taking the next step needed for a GC title run, and a win over Row would solidify that. However, Row has been battle-tested and has proved himself in multiple tourneys and is a very solid battler. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top here.

Bleu vs Fidel Z: So I think Fidel Z comes in to this knowing he's the underdog here, but knowing him, he relishes the challenge. I think Fidel will come in to this with his best material to date and will give it all he has. I do think that Bleu might be too much for him here, as he has proven to be when it comes to a lot of the battles he's been in.

Bnas vs Aggo: Interesting matchup here. You have Bnas who isn't exactly known for longer length battles, but he has the potential to shock some people if he takes his time and comes correct with his content, and then you have Aggo on the flipside, who has really flipped the switch as of late, combining humor with really solid punchlines. He's a dangerous matchup to anyone, and he's another GC dark-horse much like Xwizit. If I were a betting man, I'd place it all on Aggo here.

EZ Boi vs Shodan: The other potential battle of the round. You have EZ Boi, who is coming off of an impressive 1st Round victory of Nicholas, against Shodan, the current LBT Champion. Both seem to be centered around building up to creative punchlines, but both have very different styles when it comes to that, as well. This is a battle that I think will come with a very small margin of victory, but I will edge it the way of Shodan because of the current roll that he's been on, to go with his elevation in the past few months.

Apache Curfew vs ILLicitt: Strange battle here, as both have been very much under the radar since the beginning of the GC. Apache was no-showed in his 1st Round by Lizman (we all thank Lizman for that), and ILLicitt had what was a less than stellar performance in his 1st Round battle with MC KG. Apache seems to focus on building up to his punchlines, yet I would say he hasn't hit a creative stride yet to make his punches really have an "Oomph" effect, whereas ILLicitt seems focused on longer multi sets and with long builds to the punch, yet his issue lies in the fact that his setups don't always justify his ending punchline. Both have their flaws about their styles, yet I think both will come to this battle better than ever. My edge here would go to Apache based on how he's able to relate his setups to his final punch consistently better than what ILLicitt has been able to.
Do you agree with his assessments? What are YOUR predictions? Feel free to sound off below. Well, folks, that's all for now. I wanted to include a lot more in this but just don't have the time. You'll just have to stay tuned for more episodes of the LetsBeef GC Magazine to see what's in store. Make sure you vote on all the battles. Good luck to everyone that is still in it and everyone that has participated thus far. Peace!

The Round 1 BATTLE OF THE ROUND award goes to...

Nicholas vs. EZ Boi

Make sure you read over that if you haven't had the chance. You might learn a thing or two

I asked Jimmy Hoffa if he'd be willing to provide some insight and predictions for Round 2. Here's what he had to say.

Peace!
