That battle is actually an example of the vote power system working correctly. 3pointerj and Cherokee Cracker have both proven themselves to be incompetent and terrible voters, so their vote power has been lowered to 0. Gygax has been a generally reliable voter so their VP is the standard 2. Therefore, the vote power score is Dark Net 2–0 Yung Slang. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but if you look over a lot of 3pointerj’s votes it will make much more sense to you.

Your more general point about the same people racking up titles is definitely one I understand. Looking around the same small group of people seem to be winning everything. But it’s actually very possible for a new guy to learn the ropes, work their way up and become a champ. I only joined the site in 2019, and I didn’t win anything until the start of this year. My first title match I went up against one of the major heavyweights of the past few years and won in a massive upset. I only got modded a while after that. I was also able to take on Lockhart, the guy with the most titles in site history, and beat him. I am the newcomer winning titles you’re saying the site prevents.

In terms of LB vs other platforms, I haven’t used other sites so I don’t really know. What I do know is that our battlers that are considered the best, like Lockhart, stricc, Manhattan, Esso or Skizzo, have been able to compete at a high level outside LB (Discord, FB, live battling). Top battlers from other sites (Orc from Netcees) have come here and been competitive but not dominant. LB’s style of text battling is very unique, but that doesn’t mean our writers can’t change up their style to compete in other formats.

I’m honestly not looking to have a go at you or start shit, I just don’t agree with you. This year has seen plenty of first-time champions (Kiwi, Shodan, Squammy, Fidel Z, Godbody). That’s despite the fact that our site activity, and our number of active heavyweights, is approaching an all-time low. If you work on learning the LB style and honing your bars there is nothing stopping you from racking up a bunch of titles yourself, I think you have the potential.
