It seems more like unnecessary fear to me. We had a similar tournament earlier this year and that Never happened. Its quite simple. When you're getting ready to send, check your notifications first. Once either you or your opponent notifies me that your battle is sent, I will notify the other person so they know they were sent to. If you want to communicate with your opponent and set up who shall send or whatnot, feel free to, but I will honor who I know sent their private text battles first and gave me the link.
