I understand what he was doing, and it's a very common way of writing. I'm not sure why "even Dave" is the wording used, considering that for all my shortcomings in my own writing ability, my ability to comprehend and understand the technical aspect of writing has never been in question.
But that being said, I was pointing out the flaws with that style, of which there are many.
