If we define atheism as a belief system concerning the nature of god's existence or non-existence, certain forms of atheism actually fit the definition of religion.
The idea that "god does not exist" is a belief...much like any other belief that hasn't been proven. No one has proved that god exists, neither has anyone proved that god does NOT exist. They're both beliefs concerning the nature of god. I'm not talking about people who simply say "I don't believe in a god"...I'm more so talking about people who say "I believe that god does not exist."
