lol its not about reading articles carefully. its about reading between the lines.
I'm sure you believe the part of the article where they said they were hacking foreign consoles only? Oh yeah, that provides me a great deal of relief. Our government has never lied to us or invaded our privacy before
why on Earth would anyone care? Because as citizens of this country we're entitled to rights. We're entitled to privacy. But somewhere down the line the government said "fuck your privacy"... & While you aren't being forced to buy the Kinect.... If you want the Xbox One, it comes with a Kinect out of the box. Even if you dont have any use or need for it. Essentially they're bundling $150 worth of equipment and forcing you to pay for it, even if you don't want it.
What if I don't want a Kinect? What if I only play FPS games and sports games?
"Too bad, now give us $100 extra and here's your Xbox One"
ya don't see what im getting at? Technology is powerful these days, how would you know they're not recording you? even when its off? They could easily design the kinect so that when the Xbox isn't in use, the LED light (let's go with the generic green light to symbolize a powered on device) turns off. but just because the LED light that symbolizes its on/off is off, doesn't mean the kinect is
In fact, you'll be able to turn on your Xbox One with your voice. What does that tell you? That it was never fully off in the first place, and that the microphone has to be on in order for it to pick up the command for you to turn the xbox on
So no, its not just "data" you input that they're collecting. In fact, the new Kinect will be able to recognize everything about you, down to the fuckin brand of clothes you wear so that Advertisements can be shown to you based on your likes in clothing, sports, etc.
