That's a lack of patience. And Cotto for the most part is a boxer puncher, same with Hatton. Marquez tried counter punching, but Mayweather is the better counter puncher, so Marquez ended up going forward. It's world renowned that Mayweather cherrypicks opponents.

I'm not saying Alvarez is fighting the best, even though Trout was supposed to beat him, but Alvarez has maybe 10 years to solidify his legacy. He wants the Mayweather fight, if he won that, he'd still have like 9 years to follow up on it. Mayweather doesn't, and he's going to retire without actually facing someone who poses a challenge against him (or at least someone since the DLH fight).
