Now, if God made us in his image, and he truly is a selfish God, as you say:

Why would he punish those that commit the sins sourced from selfishness by sending them to hell if they were in his image?

Surely, he would then go to hell himself and cease to be God?

God made everyone with free will, if we decide to advance into something more serious then selfishness it's our own fault....but through Jesus that sin can be forgiven, stopping us from going to hell.
