Only time I say more complexity if it's the very simple style like:
I'll prove you is A GEEK. Chop off your ankles and shove them in ya face so ya know DEFEAT!
...Just something like that. Irrelevant set up & very simple & played line.
I say more complexity when trying to get them to think on the next level...

I feel you Book (no homo).. Like if someone never had a Complex bar in their life.. Then I'd try help em out and like you said, get em to think on the next level.
But im like 90% sure some people put "Fair vote, one needs more complexity" just coz they can't find anything else to critique.

...most shit's forgiveable phonetically. i mean there
comes a time when you read it (ok, not reading right)
you sound it out (ok, ohhh aight) and you move on
with your life. nahmean? part of battling is knowing
your audience. it's a guard you have to put on your
work, but it also can't cornhole your creativity as
well. True, some people are just ignorant, but there's
already context clues that would lead me that way
in a reading session. The line Soup quotes was
obviously thought out for what its worth, so you'd
have to assume they went over the flow on that.
the concept was placed carefully, so basics like flow
were taken into account there as well.

I couldn't have said it better to be honest.
I always gotta consider the audience. Coz with my British/Manchester accent I could rhyme 2 words that an American (or Scottish, Irish, Spanish.. whatever) couldn't. So now I try 'n' lean more towards writing my bars as if an American MC were writing them; And that's only because a large majority of LB ARE American.
