** * * * * * *Prelude to Battle*
Camp fires burn in the distance. They witness the glows, below Orions Belt.
marching in rows, and hoisting there bows, as loved ones cried, beneath the surface the cryins felt.
Their nerves were rattled, as if pierced by a thousand needles,*
But aside their brothers, spirits were high as the brows of eagles.
Tho some dry heaved, over thoughts of this war for land,
Why? Believed to be politics, sent to their deaths far from sand.
Stories of past battles, brought grim feelings amongst the soldiers in arms,
Breaths start to gasp, but thoughts of their familys help them shoulder the warmth.
Today is the day, yet fate is held distant, the battle is on,
No one sleeps, as infant fears arise, every ones loathing the dawn.
The sun starts to peek through the trees as the fog sets,
as if smokes covered the earth, from the trees, leakes a mass of silohouetts.
Overwhelmd, and out numbered, the soldiers try to muster confidence,
But caught, in what seems a pre determined dream, a cluster of consequence.
their boots are laced tight, pistols are holstered,
Ready to embrace the fight, they let out whistles, so their morale bolsters.
Anxious feelings grow colder, all of a sudden,
This is it, with all their uniforms botton'd.
Shots ring out, some one leads the charge of soldiers,
With the first death gone, the pre lude to battle is over.
