I can see how he can be in contention for top 10 right now but I don't know about number one. It's funny @Erupt posted that HipHopDX video because I just watched one the other day that actually had me agreeing with Rude Jude. That's not something I do a lot. Anyhow, what Jude was saying was that it's too early too call Kendrick the greatest. Because we don't know how the albums that he's dropped are going to hold up against time. This is an argument I can get behind. Dude's been in the game for five years(?) and to even get into the top 5 he's going to have to compete with guys who have careers spanning twenty years or at least have had some of the most classic albums of all time that still hold up after multiple decades.

I think Kendrick has a fair case for Top 10 contention. A number one spot seems premature at the moment. Especially with competition being so sparse in this era. I mean, as far as "mainstream" goes there's barely a handful of rappers that are on that level.
