Well if you want to zone in on definitions, African would have nothing to do with race.

Why can't we just say black yet? Is it still that much of a big deal? In like my first time watching UFC, there was an awesome moment when two guys in black shorts were fighting each other, one black one white. Mike Goldberg was saying like "X is in the black shorts with the slightly greyer tone, while Y is in the back shorts with the..." to which Joe Rogan cuts in and says "Ones the white guy, ones the black guy".
