Yeah, so I'm gonna try to help these cats out that really don't know what the fuck they're doing. Here's some shit to look at while you're writing battles, and I promise this shit will make it seem like you know what you're doing even when you don't.

1st things 1st, syllable count in your multies. I've seen several people try to make multies, but can't execute properly because of syllable count. I seen someone say "FLOW GARBAGE" and then "SO RETARDED". Now this may be lack of proper english fucking him up, but it would sound SO much better if he said "FLOW IS GARBAGE" and then "SO RETARDED". Syllable count either makes or breaks a good multie. You can have great content, but without the proper syllable count it will be FUCKED UP. Like "MONEY BAG", "FUNNY FAG", "DUST THESE MAGS", "RUSTY TAGS". Just make sure that whatever is in your multie has the same syllables but rhymes at the same time.

Punchlines. Most people get these confused. Punchlines are 9 times out of 10 going to be witty, funny, and cunning. You want to embarrass your opponent by making something directed at them that might be personal or might be funny about them. Punchlines rule the battlefield. Make the crowd laugh or pause for a minute to realize how good your punchline was and most likely you'll get the vote.

Personals. Same as above pretty much. Only you're attacking your opponent directly rather then having a general funny punchline. Personals HAVE to have punchlines or they're not shit. You can say "So-and-So is a faggot" but without a punchline, it's not any good. So make sure you try to keep it funny, but also keep this directed DIRECTLY at your opponent rather then just having it general. Here's the difference. General: "Only time that "XXX" pushes weight, is when his car's out of gas". Personal: "I'll make "AMBER" suck my -dick- like that "EBONY PORNSTAR". The punchline is there, and it's also a personal because it was directed towards the opponent rather then just a freely thrown punchline.

Nameplay. Awww yeah, Nameplay. The best part of battling in my opinion. This is where you can play off there name and most of the time this is the funniest part of the entire battle. This also can be put into punchlines, like "Only time that -MAY bring the heat- is when it's "SUMMERTIME". You can also switch it around if their name fits. I'll make "C get off that crank" like a "BROKEN CHEVY". You just have to be witty and clever.

Metaphors and Wordplay. Another LARGE part of a good verse. I also had one in my explanation of personals. It's basically a comparison using like or as. Say....If you were battling and said "This dude is pale/pail like a "FUCKIN BUCKET". That indicates a metaphor and wordplay. That is NOT however, a punchline. You would want to use that as a setup being that it's not aimed at the opponent, nor is it cunning or funny so it wouldn't be considered a punchline. It's most easiest to use wordplay when two words sound the same, but have different meanings. ( i forgot what that's called lol ). Metaphors are the most common element of rap battles as people often compare their opponent to other objects or people. Although it's often over-looked because it's usually not complex and occurs all to often to notice when one comes up.

Combine all these elements together, and you should have a pretty decent verse. Hope this helps someone :high:.

Tbh the best advice i can give anybody is just get a multi in your head that goes w/ the dudes name if his username is some shit like "DOCTOR RAMON", then i be like

SHOPPING ALONE
only when blah blah is when u need a "DOCTOR" for "PULSE"
NOT IN THE ZONE
BOXES & STONES
a CLOSET w/ BONES
on TOP OF DA THRONE

you can even put accents & spins on words

DROP TO DA FLO'
POPPIN Fa'SHO
then try to add concepts..like "It aint a spanish dudes name the way OSCAR/I SCARE RAMON!

Shitty example but ya sno...

meta's are comparisions for the most part, like pale/pail would be wordplay, an a lil meta, but like when daddio or was it illy, that said i cause more "Clik Claks" then two africans talkin, thats a meta cause it has a different meaning . etc ect i dk hard to explain,

A metaphor is a essentially something that is supposed to correlelate in meaning toward something else. It's an example to illustrate something within the context of something else. It's a resemblance.

For example, a metaphor would be a phrase like..It's an "uphill" battle, for something being difficult, uphill being the metaphor. Of course, it's not really uphill, but that word is representational of struggle, its a resemblance that really is irrelevant toward the subject, but places it within context.

there is a lot more to this concept, but not really relevent to rap battling.

A similie is a "like" This is what 99%of the stuff on here is. "beat you like..." whatever. Everyone has that part down.
