Blind Drops

Am I the only one who feels "blind drops" have ruined this site? Every battle I read is some random ass wordplay with no personal feel. Its hardly dissing an opponent. I miss the days of old where you can flip a line, destroy someone will name play, etc.

I only joined once blind drops were already a thing, but I really like them. Being able to flip lines against someone gives a big advantage to whoever replies, and the site activity isn't high enough that people are having to rush replies in to even that advantage out.

People should still be writing personals the same, but instead of flipping opponents lines at them go after other stuff. idk, I always try to base my verses off of personals in big matches (like LBT title bouts) if I can but you have to actually know about the person first.

If someone posts a double blind battle in the open section... you don't have to reply to it.

Paint- Protecting your verse when you go first is a massive (and obvious) advantage. I don't mind blind dropping that hides the verse...but it would be nice to know who your up against. IMO.

That's the thing about opinions, they vary.

I literally just lost a battle against The Claw over this exact scenario. They challenged me to a double blind drop so I had to write the bars not knowing who was challenging and once I dropped my verse their entire verse was nothing but personals and name flips which edged them the W even though I clearly destroyed them in every other way.

Alright without wanting to sway the open battle which you SHOULD NOT BE DISCUSSING, I think there's a few things that need to be sorted out.

1) Keystyles are possible and a thing we do on LB. However, identifying what is and isn't a keystyle is basically impossible. If you want to be sure of a keystyle battle you need to arrange it with your opponent beforehand and send a closed battle to them. It was also completely wrong to say "not a written", both semantically and as a matter of common sense. Of course a text battle has to be written, all you are ever going to accomplish is confusing people.

2) Writing something in the battle title doesn't automatically give someone the authority to set any rules they want to about the battle. It's relevant for some stuff like stipulating a concept, scheme or special line-length; but beyond that you can't really expect to set up any rules you want in an open battle.

Most LB texters are more than capable of keystyling multi schemes, and are experienced enough to format their verses with capped multis and quoted setups.
