We're less than a week in....there's about a dozen people qualified. Everyone who participates in LBT gets a match in this month so some of them will qualify....its gonna be at least a 32 on the text side.

ShotsFired

is this going to be 4 bars?

If it's like the last couple of GC tournaments it will be 12 tournament lines which is equivalent to 16 lines in a regular text box

depends how the seeding is done or if X just gonna do a random draw for the brackets. If its seeded by monthly ranking, as of today some of the first round matchups would include (not considering multi accounts that wouldnt be entered)

Esso vs Cekspree
Aggo vs Shodan
Babylon vs Godbody
Bat God vs Lockhart

shits gonna move around plus we dont know how its gonna be set up but it aint always guaranteed to be pushovers 1st round

X

The text tourney will be 4 bars/8 lines.

The seeding for audio and text will randomized. The first round will be random matches.

Audio might be 16 person if we don't get enough people.

So Subreal would only get in on his multi? lol...

Anyway, gonna try and drop another battle or two this month (and win it) to ensure GC entry

Needs to be 16 lines

8 Line Battling Is SO MUCH BETTER!! Especially Since the Voting Has been Shaky. Plus EVERYBODY knows That People are Less Likely to Fully Read, Diagnose and Accurately Compare Two 16's Rather Than Two 8's....#BigFacts☆

Dexter3

Macc always got something to say. I'd rather read a hot 16. It's super hard sometimes to choose a winner based off 4 bars. Every battle will be a tie

Why would the GC for text be 8 lines? The GC has never been 8 lines. Deciding the Grand Champion off of a 4 bar battle?

As Manhattan said the tournament has always been 16 line. There is no reason to change it. 8 lines doesn't make sense to me, this is supposed to be one of the peak moments of the LB calendar. 8 lines is far too small for the purpose.

Well The Tourny Can Progressively Increase in Bar Length. 8 first 2 Rounds or So, then 16's Then 32's and Maybe End With a 64. I mean I honestly Dont Care. Because WHATEVER it is People are going to Comply With.

Im Still Baffeled On How Rant Has a GC title. Did i Miss something? Im gonna Go BaCc amd review the No show's and Match Ups. lmaooooo!! #Conspiracy!!!!!

If this is in the official tournament bracket (which it will be) you can only choose a specific number of lines for the entire tournament. You can't change it after that. Also, giving the same number of lines every round, makes it fair for everyone.

Student
02-23-2017, 02:56 PM
16 shows WAY more range and takes more skill then doing an 8, a lot of GC battles have been decided because someone started off strong (8) but finished horribly (myself included)

Shodan
02-23-2017, 03:12 PM
I think that GC battles, assuming constant length, should be 12 tournament lines, i.e., 16, or about 16, regular lines. Anything substantially shorter permits not enough material to properly represent the participants' abilities and is less satisfying to read, whereas anything substantially longer requires strenuous writing - at least for me.

I suggest these battle lengths, given in tournament lines, for a 32-man GC:

Round of 32: 10
Round of 16: 12
Round of 8: 14
Round of 4 (Semifinal): 16
Round of 2 (Final): 20

If this is in the official tournament bracket (which it will be) you can only choose a specific number of lines for the entire tournament. You can't change it after that.

X can probably change that (if he wants to).

Manhattan

02-23-2017, 03:39 PM
orrrrrrrr, be men and stop trying to find easy ass ways to the finals. whichever number, (16 per round) is good enough. You dont see the NBA Finals doing best out of 3. There's already not a lot of people and yall wanna drop the first round down to 8 lines then move up lol. idiots

Shodan
02-23-2017, 03:41 PM

I mean that he could rewrite the tournament setup engine itself so it allows him to.

gradually increase every round 8 lines then 16 then 32

X
02-23-2017, 08:33 PM
The system is setup for a fixed number, so it's gonna be 8 or 16

Manhattan

Should just stick with 12 tournament lines (16 regular lines)

Esso
02-23-2017, 11:31 PM
It takes 4 lines to set up a true haymaker....8 line battles are for snipers. GC should be 16 tournament lines or 20 regular....if folks too lazy to vote on that, they aint the type of votes that should decide a GC. 20 regular lines would be like 1 minute written rounds in a live battle....that aint too much too ask.

Esso
02-23-2017, 11:34 PM
If you can't write a one minute verse for each round of the tournament, you dont deserve to be GC....straight up. This shit is supposed to imitate writing for a live battle as much as possible....8 line battles would be like 30 second rounds...tell me the last battle you called fire that ended after 1 30 second round...ill wait

Subreal

Agreed.. 8 line battles are painful to try to fit everything in, kinda makes it hard to do long multi schemes, basically forces everyone to try to concisely do short setup/punch , no chance to scheme or set up a lot

While I agree with the idea from everyone that it should be a regular 16, I disagree entirely with their reasoning why. Fuck wasting 4 lines to deliver one punch. You should be bringing 4 punches to an 8 line battle. It only takes two lines to set up and deliver. I don't always do that either, but you shouldn't be wasting 4 lines on a punch unless it's something crazy.

You can have punches in the set-up and then deliver the main punch at the end of the scheme.

Sure, but then you're not talking one punch in 4 lines you know

I agree with X, just leave it to 4 bars. There will probably be more no shows if you raise it. I also think only X vote should count since he is putting up the cash.

Let others vote tho just for show, some votes are more entertaining than the actual battle :D X should also let us know if he is looking for anything in particular in this. Make this shit more analytical

I took part in the last tourney and it was only 1 bar lol still had some fire shit. Plus with the new update, its easier to expo the bars. Should be good either way tho, peace
