I made a thread a while back that you fuckboys moved with a program and guide on how to mix/master vocals... Luckily I still know where it is.

So sticky the thread somewhere people can see it. Knowing y'all, it would've been in the graphics section.

Audacity. All kinds of recording/mastering capabilities for free.

Every recording program is free if you're doing it right

I don't know of anything free that offers any real mix/mastering capabilities. Audacity is great for just the recording step in the process. It has a lot of features for altering sound, but it is quite limited overall, especially when it come to workflow. One thing to look for when shopping the different software titles would be whether they use destructive or non-destructive editing. A lot of the free programs use "destructive editing," which is something I can't fuck with. If you don't know what that is, google it. If all you're going to do is record and send it off to be mixed, then Audacity is a winner. If you plan on mixing your own shit, and you want high quality, you'll have to spend some money. Or be a thief.
