I'm in need of a new mic too. Amazon always kills it when it comes to the deals but if you're in a rush and want some shit you can pick up in the store so you can look at the box, read about it, etc etc etc check out a music joint near you... like a Guitar Center or a Sam Ash

I have a samson co1u usb mic (straight Into laptop)

That cost me £50 whatever that is in dollars?

Check out my only audio battle for quality. Thats in a shed with no acoustic treatment and I think it sounds fine.

I have used a CO1U and a CO2U before there both USB mics and they r both clear and good in my opinion if you know how to use ur program that u r recording with good it will sound better I guess. I once listend to someones recording and it was real crisp I ask wat mic he uses he said he uses his HEADPHONES!

for a professional mic. i would suggest condenser. your not gonna find any better quality then a condenser mic and 24 bit audio quality. now with the condenser mic your also going to require a digital track recorder with built in phantom power or a usb audio interface with built in phantom power. if u cant find it built in u can find a phantom power adaptor for about 40 bucks extra. but for 80 bucks just go get your ass a straight up usb audio mic. ittl sound good, but not great.

btw i was never one to fuck with pro tools. wont nothing sound better then working off an actual digital track recorder and sound board.

not a problem..this takes patience and practice

and the mic isnt the reason for poor quality..you can spend $50 or $300, if you dont know what youre doing, its going to sound like shit..the conditions of the room in which youre recording, your body temperature, how well you know your material, your microphone interface, the program recording your vocals - those are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of affecting your quality..and ultimately, if you dont budget to get your vocals mixed/mastered - none of the above will matter
