I've been hearing a lot about him recently, never actually listened to much of him though. Anybody got any recommendations as to which album I should get?

^What he said. Food and Liquor was good too. I like Food and Liquor II, I just felt it was ehhhh. Lasers was aight.

def Food & Liquor was pure hip hop The Cool he ventured off into doing silly flows but his messege was good others to me were just decent

On an overall basis.. no but from a production, growth, and content standpoint yes.
Song for song II is better. The best songs of #1 are fewer but better
I'd have a newer listener listen to II before I
FNL1 will damn near overwhelm a new listener.
Strange Fruition and Bitch Bad are high level examples of Lupe's growth in my opinion.

I went for Food and Liquor (my two favourite things) haha, na cuz it was his debut (i think) and I like listening to debut albums when I'm just getting into an artist.

I like that raw talent in hip hop.

Just here to cosign.. The Cool is the best (more meaningful songs..)
Ex: Fighters, Streets on Fire

Food & Liquor would rank second.. (more laid back album..)
Ex: Kick Push, Sunshine

food an liquor 1 and the cool both great albums.... i'd say FAL 1 because that song The Cool is my favorite Lupe song.... but The Cool album is dope as fuck little weapon crazy song
