Mindless is right, although I'm pretty sure I contributed in some of the early idea and didn't get credited! haha.
FVC never worked. The closest it got to working was when it was the hidden one. The problem with the FVC is it always became a method of people trying to get their dick sucked. People changed how they voted for the sake of getting into the FVC. Everyone loved their ego being stroked as a good voter, but that kind of "respect" gets boring fairly quickly. After like a month, people were like "That was cool, but I don't really care about this usertitle anymore" and then stopped everything.

The problem is people (you fucks, yeah you, reading this like oh he's not talking about me, you fuck). In a perfect world we could grant someone a title for the right reasons and other people would respect that decision if we explained why someone is a fair voter (which is fucked from the start because it's subjective but clearly there's a fine line in voting with an explanation and just throwing out some generic response). BUT this is the internet where everything gets skewed and people like to manipulate others for "colored names and titles" so exactly what EtH said, people who you knew were shitty voters would change their tune overnight. It'd be blatantly obvious but I guess we needed to justify the existence (which speaking of getting my dick sucked / ego stroked, I co-founded it so don't cut me out of that credit @ Mindless Jew know what I mean) so we'd allow it. I'm talking about the latest version, initially we had such a large active userbase that we had the option to pick 15-20 good voters w/o prerequisites because people were actually voting by themselves because they were battling and you'd see huge voter turnouts. How you build to that? Not sure, bringing back the FVC would be a step back though. Maybe in another form and with another name.

Well firstly there should be a written standard for more intelligent forms of fair voting immediately read by any new FVC member, if there isn't one already (which why on earth wouldn't there be?)
Just because a field is subjective doesn't exclude it from being able to be explained in detail to lead others to the right side of the fence > Which is fair voting > Which is easily explained
The problem with the FVC was that it was too easy to bullshit your way into without _ACTUALLY_ being a fair voter. This could be remedied by simply having a person review the WAY the fvc members vote both before being included and semi-regularly after, and the subsequent removal of those who are shitty examples of fair voters. To my view it was just inefficiently ran in some aspects, it was a great concept. Though, admittedly less great when the active userbase caps at 30 max.
So, perhaps it should be on the backburner for now.

This is false. The closest the FVC came to working, was when the criteria for what WAS VOTED ON was changed by Noble. Focusing, instead of battles asked to be voted on, the open battles, the hotlisted battles, and the battles closing soon. The biggest problem with the FVC was that it came to a point where it was being picked and chosen by the individual what they WANTED to vote on. As opposed to having a strict set of battles TO vote on.

It never worked consistently tbh. Any "good idea" only lasted a month because people aren't genuinely interested in voting on the majority of battles.
Judging a battle is only subjective if you make it so. I judge battles by objectively asking myself what takes more skill / effort? And go in depth on the intricacies of a verse. It takes a higher knowledge / understanding / experience cap nonetheless but it is definitely fair.

We should have a written standard for more intelligent forms of fair voting available for reading by all LB members. Actually, it should be made a sticky in General Talk and all battle subforums.
