The back board was half scorched from Kaap's poor shooting 
Remember the back court just had more to offer cause cats were losing/
The ladies came out to cheer and praise the Kings of the black top 
And I know I would be here today if I wasn't bleeding in the back drop/
Waking up for school couldn't wait to get a shot to play 
Because of my complexion they would say "hmm not today"/
Not sure how he would prosper in the world where the monsters rule 
So he practiced in the back with the mad kids who never got a shot in school/ 
Freshman year try outs he tired out and was scared to take a open shot 
So he got cut and starting cutting up around the kids that was rolling rocks.../

Sophomore year the coach called and said there was a spot on the JV squad 
Dreams flashing quick back to the top averaging at least 18 while my baby watched/
So I picked up the ball I ain't played in about a month or so 
My first shot was something broke but then I started getting comfortable/
Quickly made the jump from the bench to the starting five
Went from "Kaap can't shoot" to damn "Kaap can hoop" my dreams were well alive/
Then coach bumped me up to the varsity man I never to the jersey off 
The popularity rose but little did I know that my coolness came with a certain cost.../

Had to take my Junior year off for having green up in my locker 
The pain killed so I killed the pain every time I would re up at the doctor/
Prescriptions of everything a-z that you could ever imagine 
Bout that time is when I picked up the pen started getting serious with rappin/
I needed a new way to vent off all my anger and jealousy 
Towards the dudes that was hooping in the spot where I was supposed to be/
Started dropping drugs and dropping knowledge on every microphone 
Another white boy in a black sport they never thought my writes were dope/
Senior year approaching I was gonna be able to hoop n spit
No way of knowing that there was much more in my way than these stupid kids.../

Was gearing up for the season believing I was just about to tear it up 
The kid who was dreaming of beasting is ready to earn his merits bruh/
But God had other plans got home before the first game of the year 
Said goodnight to my brother had to get some rest but my mother came in with tears/
She said "DJ is gone Matt the cancer took him from this life"
Head started spinning like a dancer and the pain cut deeper than a knife/
I got up that next morning and said DJ this game is gone be for you 
But I tore my acl that night over hearing the doc saying he is threw (damn...)/

Fast forward to the present and I can't hoop anymore 
But I still shoot with the rhymes aiming at who wants the chore/
I've been given a lot of trials in this life of mine 
But on this mix I rhyme until I ain't got a fucking life line/
Trying to become the next dude with the quotes 
Young K-A-P nothing but some hoops n some hopes.../

Kwon <THE GOAT>	Sad story man, I can relate. I was hit by a car the summer approaching my junior year that cost me varsity time and a starting spot on the varsity team. My coach called me to his office and told me that he didn't think I had it anymore. That discouraged the hell out of me. But coincidentally, my relay team (Track & Field) won a State Championship that very year. You just got to push yourself man, and don't give up hope.
