The garage door closed, silent yet swift
Static over the radio an empty bottle of emotion
In his angst a drift of warmth staring at the 22 beside his fifth
muffler stuffed and the car windows closing

Chills run feverish down his back
It's happening, run or finally let go
Picturing his sons umbilical cord from the running hose in back
Whispering of his wife and children begin to echo...

Partial filled he embraced his life w/ his lungs carbon filled
Recalling no note or a final good-bye
Foot on the pedal - the car was still
Chemical enduced tears seeped from his eyes

Unexpected the door behind opened this wasn't part of the plan
His family had resided in suburbs and she went off to the city
He began to question what was made of the heart of a man
Put the Larkin in his hand and repeated: "God forgive me.. god forgive me..."

Staring at the corpse he thought she's awful pretty
A bride with no gown she laid a wife with no pulse
He began the process quickly: Hacksaw and elbow grease five shots of whiskey
Halfway done/// something rung... a phone call

His son wanted to know when to be home for dinner
He paused and his lexicon froze as vocabulary locked
He replied "We're going out tonight, just like i told your sister"

Meaning, i.e. relation to "Driving on Empty" - - - This story begins w/ an ominous tones that drifts to the very end. The double meaning immeaditly being that this man is gone, perished: empty. As his last gasp happening within a vehicle that proceeds w/ meaning through the story, carrying the characters emotions and feelings. I wanted the piece to be open to the reader yet bring them w/ me on this tale as we barely, make it scene. Bringing forth the idea of driving on empty and barely making it from point A to point B. A father torn, gonzo, in his inner emotion and inner most thoughts leaving behind the two most precious things in the world to him and taking one with him.

“Honey come here, I’ve got some exciting news”
Shouted my mum as she entered the room, and through off her shoes
“It’s good and bad, what you want first, you choose … OMG I cant wait … we’re moving to Bruges!”
 
…. “We’re moving to Bruges”
 
I repeated it over and over in my head, I must have heard wrong
We’re fuckin English, this is where we belong
RULE BRITTANIA! My grand father died defending that song
And now we’re supposed to up and leave for god knows how long?
 
“Watch your mouth son, it’s happening whether you like it or not”
“It’s been a tough year and you’ve been through a lot”
“A position came up and my boss is giving me a shot”
“It’s a chance for a new start, to forget … you know what”
 
…. “You know what”
 
She still can’t bare, to mention that night
I’ve never been the same and it still gives her a fright
To see me on edge, thinking I might
Do “you know what” … out of her sight…
 
3 months later
 
“Honey come here, I’ve got some exciting news”
Shouted my mum as she entered the room, and through off her shoes
I bought you a car, now you can go out and cruise And explore the picturesque scenery of Bruges.
 
“We can’t afford a car, this can’t be real”
“I met this guy; he gave me a fantastic deal”
So i walked out onto the drive and was met by a large rust of steel
Exhaust hanging off, windows broken and missing a wheel
I looked back at the excitement in her eye, how could I tell her how I really feel
So I smiled back, thanked her, told her I loved her and the rest of that spiel and headed back indoors to finish off my meal
 
That night I went to sleep, dreading to wake
First day back at school after the weekend break
That ‘car’ was on my mind, to take or not to take
Do I really need to give them any more ammunition? Oh for fucks sake!
 
Last day in Bruges?
 
I pull up at school, nervous, feels like all eyes on me, stabbing like spears
Cuz it doesn’t fit in with the rest of my peers
Before I know it, a crowd gathers, I’m deafened by shouting and jeers
Then all of a sudden nothing … the crowd parts… and a thuggish man appears…

And then it began, smashing side after side, gleeming with pride, no remorse in his eyes as he punished my ride.  why is this happening? every school law i abide, its hard to fit in but i tried and tried, but the hits kept coming and i cried and i cried, no where to hide and no guide to survive. 

Then just like that, it was over, the crowd disappears, i take my sleeve to my eye to wipe of my tears, check out the damage, shit, i got no side mirrors or gears, wheels damn, liquid and gas leaking from the rear, smashed n abused just because it didnt fit in here.

Thats it, im done. I jump back in the car, quick as a jiff, legs trembling but my arms were stiff, and followed the signs... to the great white cliff.
I arrive 10 minutes later, thinking, this has to be my fault, i caused this revolt, FUCK MEEE, pedal to the medal, speeding down the road .. ARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... then 'huh' ... the car stops to a halt...

"Honey come here, ive got some exciting news" ... those were my mums last words, and i heard her, how can i commit this murder, so am i strong or weak, i took this car to the edge, but had no gas to take it further...?

Anarchist <Anarchy>	meaning - the car being being different to the rest of the cars at school, not as nice, looking different, not in the best condition and treated and discriminated against, was the way this guy was treated, moving from england to bruges, he was different and didnt fit in. was there a car? perhaps the car was actually a manifestation by the boy, the car didnt get smashed, he got smashed, he didnt take the car to a cliff, he took himself to the cliff, the car didnt run out of gas, he ran out of gas and didnt have it in him to go through with it . Letum <Turnbull AC's>	Damn both went in with really well crafted storys. I think both had some ups in downs as far as flow goes.
