Copperfield's Run pt. I - Copperfield





Copperfield seemed a typical middle class man: three piece suit, clearly proof of his business class craft, the cleanest shoes gleamed with perfection in which you could see your reflection seemed to ooze in a way and indicate his middle class stance. His suburban haven, wife, kids and two cars were evidence he'd moved far from his working days n nurtured faith to the point he'd truly joined suburban greatness. His spouse might - fairer sex, hair as red as a painted setting sun, once air hostess turned housewife - have told you that he was not significant of a model citizen rather a well grounded and well rounded man; his success was a product of his surreptitious perspicacious furtive nature; part of her knew this was far from the truth, she couldn't tell how he had achieved elevation with no degree, education or real methods taken; she never questioned any records or wished to see credit statements; "better just accepting that he's getting paid, betting shares and keeps getting wages". "The stocks are up darling!" he'd tell her, his business trips more frequent, she ignored reason and sometimes her mind would run wild at night and she'd accuse him of abhorred treason, "tell me if you're cheating!", but she accepted callous lies n alibis most evenings.

Duality was central to his style; suit and tie, boots and shine with a blooming smile, but you could find him shooting dice through the night or using lies to soothe his wife, in reality he'd ruined lives with his do-or-die ruthless mind, to keep his family he'd utilise every move and try to do them right, but he'd screw you twice, crucify you and spit on your corpse if you survived.

He was never a stock broker, he'd knocked over a kid who died and since his bid inside he'd got colder (this was something his wife Theresa had not known of) and in his bright little mind on switched a light: he ditched his life for a different side; to post-prison Copperfield working in a dead-end office job was not kosher. But where did he make his fortune? He reigned opulence and confidence, a wallet fatter than a hippopotamus' bottom is but there was no job in this? He corresponded across continents - namely India - to make his way.

His minds eye was a diamond, a diamond mine designed with sublime lining,
Fine and precise timing, "silent exchange, drive outta range, disguised, quiet" then - ruger holstered to the border - by-pass don't pass-by and if they ask why deny hiding any illegally supplied items,
From then you can drive to the horizon, to the sunlit sunrise sky to the summit of prized life, children and wife. A million times he'd been on this ride.

Glist'ning sand mirrored the clear night sky, white eyed he gripped his strap,
The stringent plan ran through his head as he approached the middle man,
In his hand he knew, a millions-worth; the finest in the land.
The moon struck Copperfield's suit, a metallic gleam it did cast,
The brief case - with cash - weighed in at the equivalent to the big ass fat kid from gym class,
He sniggered at this thought, before his grin lapsed back toward his chin and he resumed his stance in the think tank.
His man Massi approached slowly, the shadowy desert town, there was nob'dy else around but still he spoke, lowly from his throat,
His Indian descent hidden yet in the dim evening,
His tall dark figure cloaked like the grim reaper,
Only a shadow boldly standing. Then from his overcoat he disclosed the address and told him:
"you already know homie, if they catch you you don't know me".

With a nod they parted, their shadows descending like praying black cats; almost laying flat, quietly, gently, but purposefully, aquired and deadly. Copperfield prized open his car door and glanced into the package - a silent art form - without alarm and as calm as a junkie after a hard score. The package felt heavy now as he lifted the centre of his steering wheel; the airbag had been removed to keep concealed the packages, a clever strategic tactic that had never before been revealed. He saw Massi depart, the dark disguising Copperfield's hidden cart. A shadow fluttered behind his car; he paid no heed. Kicking start he left in confidence. But someone was watching him; from behind an old stone wall in a low crawl, but who? Copperfield or Massi at least must've seen that someone was onto them? They never. Not a clue. With evil eyes stowed with flames the whole exchange he'd witnessed. Oh yes, that someone was watching them, and now that someone was following.......

Mind Fuck <Red Ribbon Army>	would really like to collab w/ you on something bra.. this was fducking excellent story telling w/ a near perfect flow/delivery.
